Episode 33: The 2019 Round Up

Can you believe we’re almost at the end of the year, and the decade? No, we can’t either! So before we take our end of year break (don’t worry, we’ll be back in January with plenty of new discussions) we thought we’d take a moment to look back on the rest of the year, discuss some of our highs and lows, and share our top recommendations from the past 12 months. We hope you enjoy the last episode of the year and also get a chance to take a break over the next few weeks, whether you celebrate Christmas or not! As ever, please do get in touch with us and share any ideas that you have for our 2020 topics!

Episode 31: Loneliness

We know we’re a little late and the sound quality isn’t great this week but we’re hoping you’ll forgive us as we work out our new recording logistics! This fortnight we’re discussing loneliness and why it’s ok if you feel lonely. This is a discussion usually reserved for older generations but we think it is just as relevant when you’re young too. We share some of the times when we’ve felt lonely and what we do to try and prevent it from happening.

Stir Fry Recipe

Throw some oil into a pan with garlic, spring onions, half a lime, ground coriander, some mild chili flakes and some soy/tamari sauce (only a little). Thinly slice the tofu into little pieces and fry until it’s super crispy then throw in the rest of your veg. Cook your rice noodles, drain and put them in with the veg. Make a sauce from a tablespoon or 2 of almond butter (you could probably use peanut or cashew here) with a generous glug of soy sauce and a little bit of water. Mix up and pour over the stir fry and serve.

Episode 30: Facing Your Fears

A little late but finally this fortnights episode is up and we’re discussing fears. We share some of our biggest fears, how we’ve started to face them and also how to go about combatting your fears, from the tangible every day fears to the bigger things that play on your mind.

Episode 29: Coping With Worry & Uncertainty

It’s here, our first UK/Australia episode! This fortnight we catch up on all the crazy things that have happened in the past couple of weeks and then dive into our topic: coping with worry and uncertainty. As two self-confessed life-long worriers we have stirred ourselves up into our fair share of worried states and got worked up about the uncertainty that the future holds. In the past year or so we’ve become much better at dealing with worry and uncertainty though and we thought it was time that we shared how we’ve done this and what we do to put a halt on those worrisome thoughts.

28: Solo Travel

This week we’re discussing one of our favourite topics, solo travel and busting some of the myths that surround it. Whether you’re a seasoned pro like Helli or just starting to dip your toes in like Charlotte, it can be such a fun and exciting experience that we both think everyone should give it a go at least once. We cover the danger that can sometimes be associated with solo travel, how to plan a trip that works for you and what to do if you’re worried about being lonely and ultimately why we think everyone should give it a go at least once.

Episode 27: Credit Cards

This fortnight we’re back talking about money and this time we’re exploring the (sometimes scary) world of credit cards. We’ve all head the horror stories of spiralling debt and creating bad financial habits associated with credit cards but in fact they can be really valuable and beneficial financial tools. We get into why credit cards can be so beneficial, how they can help you improve your credit rating (along with how to check what yours is and how you can use it) and we also share our favourite resources for learning more about the different financial products out there and some tips for creating good credit card habits.

Episode 26: Bonus Episode – Discussing Body Image with Becky & Asia

We’re coming to you this week with something a little different, a bonus episode where we interview our friends, Becky and Asia, and discuss all things body image with them. We spoke in the last episode about how we were conscious that we came to the discussion from two very specific viewpoints so we took the opportunity to open up the discussion with our friends too. We hope you enjoy this extra dose of 20s Are Hard and we’d love to hear what you think about interviewing guests on the show!

Episode 25: Discussing Body Image

In this fortnight’s episode we’re discussing body image. It’s a huge topic and we’re very aware that we come at it from 2 very specific perspectives and a place of privilege, however, it’s also something that effects everyone at some point in their life. As we’ve gone through our 20s we’ve found that our relationships with our bodies have changed a lot, with some things no longer being a cause for concern whilst also discovering new insecurities. Whilst we certainly don’t have all the answers we are hoping that there will be some reassurance that no matter what body image issues you may be facing at the moment you aren’t alone. We discuss how your relationship with your body is ever changing, how everyone’s journey with body image is so personal and how sometimes self-acceptances is a more achievable goal than self-love.

Episode 24: How To Stay Motivated

Are you struggling to get back into the swing of things after a break over the summer? Or maybe you’ve been working towards a goal for what seems like forever and suddenly you find yourself running out of steam? Maybe you just need the kick up the backside to get going on a new project? Well this fortnight’s topic is perfect for you because we’re discussing motivation but more importantly how to stay motivated. We’ve all felt that initial buzz when we start a new project or make a new plan but keeping it up and making sure that we can sustain that level of motivation can sometimes be a bit of a challenge, no matter how much you want something. We’re all working towards our own goals and all have our own motivations for them but at the end of the day we’re all also just human. So if you need some tips in how to keep that momentum going and how to stay motivated even when things are tough or are taking longer than you expected, we’re here for you!
