51: Accountability and Responsibility

We want to say a huge thank you for all your support and love for our new rebrand, we appreciate it so much! This week we’re back with in-depth chats about each of our recommendations, plus we’re talking about accountability and holding ourselves responsible. Taking ownership of our responsibilities and holding ourselves accountable is more important now than ever, whether it’s our responsibility to stand up to racism, to be more environmentally responsible, to hold ourselves accountable for our behaviour in the pandemic or just to try and be a good person. We discuss the small, everyday things we can all do to be more accountable.

50: Growth In Progress

You might have noticed that things are looking a little different around here! Don’t worry, we’re still bringing you the open and honest chats each fortnight, sharing what we’ve been up to and some of our favourite things but we felt like it was time for a change. The podcast has grown in ways we never imagined (thanks to all of your support!) so this fortnight we’re telling you a bit more about why we’ve decided on the name Growth In Progress and then discussing our own progress when it comes to self development, and what we need to keep working on.

48: Dealing With Change

A lot has changed in the past couple of weeks and we know we aren’t the only ones in this position. We thought we’d take the time to discuss how we’ve been dealing with big changes in our lives and how we approach change, whether it’s really good news or something that’s harder to come to terms with.

46: Having Difficult Conversations

None of us like having difficult conversations but they’re part of life so knowing how to navigate them and prepare for them can give you the confidence to tackle them head-on. Whether it’s calling out your racist relative, asking for that pay rise, confronting a friend or leaving a job, all of these conversations can feel hard to start. We’re sharing how we approach these topics and how to get used to initiating difficult conversations.

45: Anti-Racism Resources

This week’s episode is entirely dedicated to the anti-racism resources that we have found useful in the past few weeks. We know we still have a lot to do and that the list shared below is far from exhaustive but it’s a good place to start. Becoming actively anti-racist and being an ally is lifelong work, and something that we will continue to put in the work for both on and offline. We know that sometimes we will get it wrong but calling each other and ourselves out for it is how we can learn and do better. Please share with us any resources that you’ve found helpful recently and we can continue to share them with the rest of our community. And to our black listeners, know that we hear you, we see you, we respect you and we are committed to doing the work.

39: Increasing Your Productivity

You guys loved our episode on organisation last year so this week we’re back getting all excited about getting your shit together – productivity. As two organised worriers, we’re always looking for new ways to increase our productivity so this week we’re sharing the routines that we try to stick to and the tips we swear by to make the most out of each day. Because being busy is not the same as being productive. Just as a side note, we record all of our episodes in advance and recorded this before social distancing really started, that said, chatting about productivity (especially if you’re now working from home) seem quite timely so hopefully this is still useful and we can serve as a nice distraction from what is going on in these scary times.

Episode 38: Managing Expectations

In this episode we discuss how to manage your expectations of yourself, where you “should” be and what you “should” have already acheived. We can all be guilty of seeing ourselves big goals but there’s a difference between a stretch-target and setting yourself and unrealistic timeline for success. We’re all guilty of it though and this week we’re sharing how we’ve started to manage our own expectations a little better and not be quite so hard on yourself.
