Episode 23: Long Distance Friendships

In this fortnight’s episode we decide to tackle the topic of long distance friendships. Most of us have friends that we adore but don’t get to see all that often simply because of geography. Maybe one of you moved, or you were all scattered over the country after uni, whatever the reason sometimes maintaining a friendship when you don’t get to see one another can feel pretty diffuclt. Given that we’ve been long distance friends for the majority of the time we’ve known one another and Helli’s big announcement in this episode we thought it was the perfect timing to long distance friendships.

Episode 18: Comparison

In this week’s episode we catch up on our recent trips to New York (Helli) and Lisbon (Charlotte) and get into the big old topic of comparison. It’s something that seems to effect us all, whether we’re comparing ourselves to our friends, strangers on the internet or past versions of ourselves. There’s something about being in your twenties though that seems to make comparison even more apparent and it’s so easy to take your eyes off of what you’re doing and suddenly slip into that downward spiral of comparing yourself to everyone around you. We chat about this, why comparison often just does more harm than good and how we snap out of a comparison rut when we find ourselves in one.

Episode 17: Sustainability

This fortnight we’re tackling another big topic, sustainability. Until now we’ve been a little nervous to discuss this because we’re far from experts and know we could both do more. It can also feel like such an overwhelming task to have to ‘save the world’ but we’ve decided to tackle it head on and in this episode we’re sharing some of the changes we’ve made in our everyday lives to do our bit to help our planet. We’ve become increasignly aware of our impact ont he world and how we can live most sustainabily over the past few years but as ever we’re always open to learning more and sharing tips so we can all do a little bit more. If you have any suggestions please feel free to share them either here or via our Instagram page @20sarehard. We also have our usual catch up, talk about Charlotte’s eternal love for ABBA and Helli’s latest TV love.

Episode 16: Budget Travel

It’s no secret that we both love to travel and explore new places but neither of us have the money or time to just drop everything and explore somewhere new whenever we fancy it. We’re both advocates of the fact that whilst being able to travel is a privilege it doesn’t have to be as expensive as you first think. If you’re willing to invest a little bit of time, plan things through and make a couple of compromises you can cut the cost of any trip down. In this episode we’re sharing our best tips of how to reduce costs and how we manage to afford to travel with all of life’s other expenses.

Episode 15: Discussing Personal Style

This fortnight we decided it was about time we discussed something a little lighter so we’re chatting all about fashion, personal style and wardrobe staples. It’s something we both love and can be so much fun so whether you want to just get involved in the conversation or are looking for that confidence boost when it comes to stepping outside your style comfort zones, we’re here. We also discuss Our Planet, Captain Marvel (no spoilers, don’t worry) and the people you simply must be following on Instagram.

Episode 12: Catching Up

This week we decided to just have a bit of a natter over some tea & mini eggs (because who can resist when it’s the season for them?). We catch up about everything we’ve been up to recently, discuss our favourite teas (with some possibly controversial thoughts), what we’ve been reading, what we’ve been buying and just generally have a bit of a ramble. We’ll be back in the next episode with a slightly meatier topic but for now we thought it would be the perfect chance to take 5, catch up and chill out after a long couple of weeks. We’ve also relaunched the 20s Are Hard Instagram page so head over there for your daily dose of positivity and some pretty pictures!

Episode 10: Long Distance Relationships

This week we are discussing long distance relationships, a topic that is very close to both of our hearts and something that we could chat about for hours. We have both been in long distance relationships for some years and in that time have found that not only do very few people seem to discuss them but that there is also the idea that long distance can only ever be a bad thing. That certainly isn’t how we feel (or our boyfriends for that matter!) so we wanted to have this conversation to reframe long distance and share why it has worked for us and the steps we take to maintain a healthy relationship. We know that this probably wont be relevant for everyone in their 20’s but it’s been a defining feature of ours so wanted to discuss it. Whether you’re in one now, have been in the past or you’re just as nosey as we are and like to hear about peoples relationships we hope you enjoy this week! And if you want to hear the couples Q&A then please send us in your questions and we’ll get the guys on!

Episode 9: Consuming Social Media Responsibly

This week we are chatting all about social media. Love it or hate it, social media is a big part of most of our lives and for all of its benefits there are some drawbacks that we’ve been thinking about more recently. It isn’t always easy to create boundaries around social media as it’s so intergrated into our lives and as a result it doesn’t always have the most positive impacts on our day to day lives. We discuss how we came to realise how altered some elements of social media is and also how we are trying to curate our social feeds to be more positive and empowering spaces.
